Frequently Asked Questions
Getting started with Workamapro
- Schedule a call: First, we'll set up a call so we can better understand what you are looking for and make sure we are a good fit. Then, we'll set up a second call to help us define what a successful project will look like. There are times when a single call is all that is necessary to move forward.
- Review Proposal: I will put together at least 3 engagement options to proceed and meet your goals and objectives. We may conduct an additional call to discuss your options and questions you may have. When you're ready to proceed, you'll let me know which option you want.
- Confirm Project: I'll send an invoice once you have selected your project option. The project is confirmed once the invoice is paid in full. I will send project onboarding materials, and we will begin scheduling all known milestone events.
It can take up to two days to schedule an initial call (and any follow-up calls) with me.
The entire process, from scheduling a call to confirming the project, can take anywhere from 1-10 days depending on the complexity of the project, and both of our availabilities.
Project budget and timing
It depends on the transformation, experience and service level you are looking for. I will present at least 3 engagement options. I will make sure at least 1 option is within your budget if I know it upfront.
We only present engagement options that we believe will create value that is at least 3-10 times in excess of your investment.
Here is some general guidance of what we've done in the past:
- Full-service, strategy and implementation projects range between $40,000-$20,000.
- Discovery-based, strategic offerings range between $20,000-$10,000.
- Most DIY, self-guided, or premium support-based options range from $7,000-$3,000.
Shorter answer: A month.
Longer answer:
We can begin most projects in less than 10 days depending on our current schedules, your response times, and general availability. Most of the project initiation and planning can occur during that time.
The execution phase of a custom project will normally take 1-3 months to fully execute. However, the majority of the results will occur in less than a month.
You will want to plan for an additional 1-3 months of additional support and monitoring (for any project) though that may or may not require Workamapro.
It takes 1-10 days to schedule a project after it has been confirmed. It mostly depends on our schedules, your response times, and your general availability.
Who we serve
I work with professional firms and organizations offering creative services. Most would call themselves and "ad agency" or "marcom".
*You will be my customer if we work together. I do my best not to refer to you as a "client" though I understand that is the norm.
Most of my customers have between 20-80 employees. I have worked with firms with as few as 5 employees and a few with more than 1000.
I have worked with customers with offices on every livable continent, however, most of my customers are in the U.S.
Experience and background
Not really. We provide expert guidance for the Workamajig platform.
We have expertise in Quickbooks, and have worked with agencies who have not integrated into Workamajig's financial tools.
That doesn't mean we only help Workamajig agencies. We are still able to provide implementation guidance from software selection to data conversion (and everything in between) for any system.
Most of our customers discover that the majority of the actual work is system agnostic. The true job focuses on how you work, and how to implement software.
I've worked with "the usual suspects" and I haven't seen another system tool that does what Workamajig can do. I am open to providing guidance using other systems.
Our consultancy began in 2008. We hit our stride at the first Workamajig Conference and never looked back.
We have billed over 130 agencies through the end of 2021. We have provided guidance to at least 2-3 times that number of agencies.
The first time we implemented Workamajig was in 2003. It was known as Creative Manager at the time. I believe it was referred to as "Creative Manager Pro" if you signed up for accounting rights.
I served in a multitude of managerial roles. From controller and CFO to COO and General Manager. Each agency was experiencing substantial issues when I was brought in. Together, we transformed the profitability of each agency we served. Each of them is still killing it today.
No. I was offered an opportunity to own an agency and decided to create Workamapro instead.
Methodology
We do. We employ a 3-D approach to all of our solutions. In a nutshell:
- Discovery: gather all of the information required to define success for your project.
- Design: create a strategic plan that will help you be successful.
- Deploy: execute the plan.
We like it because it works and it's fun to say. If it's easy to remember, well that just makes it easier to execute successful projects - which is the point, right? At the end of the day, it is our interpretation of the Project Management Institute's PMBOK guide.
Our approach is simple - no guessing. We will:
- Clarify your objectives.
- Gather evidence.
- Prove that problems actually exist or that results can be achieved.
This way we make sure we are solving the right problem (so it stays solved).
The Workamapro Experience
All work is performed by lead consultant and owner Lee Handley.
*You will note our use of "we" two reasons:
- We didn't get here on our own. We have learned from the best - customers, mentors, and leaders.
- We couldn't do outstanding work without your help.
I get that "we" is overdone in a single person firm, but it is what it is.
Yes. I first implemented Workamajig in 2003. It produced dramatic results for our agency. In 2006 I was hired to manage a larger agency. They were getting by with an Excel-based system. That was when I truly understood how important a system like Workamajig is to managing an agency. So, I have implemented Workamajig as a "Core Team Administrator" twice. I understand the challenge and I know what's at stake.
